Stacey Dooley's three-year-old little girl Minnie couldn't be more her mother's daughter if she tried.

The duo both have the same brilliantly vibrant flame-hued locks, and now, Stacey has opened up about her daughter's sweet reaction to being part of the fiery-haired club.

Talking at the House of Wella hair event on Tuesday, the documentary maker, 39, revealed that Minnie loves the beautiful colour of her locks and that it makes her feel special among her peers.

"My little girl's ginger, my Minnie, she's three and a half, she's got ginger hair, and I said: 'God, isn't your hair beautiful? ', and she said: 'Yes, mummy, there are only two other girls at nursery with red hair, so she feels so special'."

But despite Minnie's fabulous confidence, Stacey said it took years for her to happily lean in to her natural locks.

"Years and years ago I was desperate to have white blonde hair like Sarah Harris; I thought I'd look exactly like her. It was just a total mess; it wasn't for me. Then I leaned into my ginger hair."

Stacey and Minnie's life in Liverpool

Stacey and Minnie couldn't have a sweeter bond and live up in Liverpool in Merseyside near the BBC star's mother.

The flame-haired duo live with Stacey's partner and Minnie's father, Kevin Clifton, who used to star on Strictly Come Dancing.

Joking about the best thing about living in Liverpool, Stacey, who's famous for always having her red tresses styled immaculately, said: "It's the £25 blowdries!"

Stacey often shares adorable updates from her life with her little family and previously revealed the sweet way she found out she was pregnant.

Debunking the rom-com scenes of couples relaxing in the privacy of their home as they jointly wait for the confirmation of their pregnancy test, the DNA Family Secrets star discussed her "unglossy" experience in Selfridge's London during an appearance on the Dish from Waitrose podcast with Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett.

On the subject of her letter to Minnie in her book Dear Minnie: Conversations with Remarkable Mothers, she said: "I didn't want it to be too gushy and too: 'I love you, I love you, I love you,' because that's so obvious, like, who doesn't love their kid, you know what I mean?

"But I also, you know, I sort of wanted it to be real, like, you know, the way I found out wasn't, you know, beautifully calm. It was quite chaotic. I talk about buying a pregnancy test in Selfridges. You know that little chemist area?

"Just picked it up 'cause I had five minutes and she, she sort of got it, and she, she was such a sweetheart, this woman, she put a bit of Sellotape over the bag, so you know, it wasn't baggy. You couldn’t see anything.

"I went downstairs, you know, it's roasting down there. So I'm like sat on this toilet, the lady's knocking 'cause there's a big queue, I'm like, you know, mid… mid situation. And it's kind of, I sort of instinctively knew, it was more like confirmation."
