Rebecca Adlington is revelling in her role as a first-time mum. The retired Olympic swimmer welcomed her daughter Summer in June, and she has since admitted that having a baby is a total life-changer.

Becky, as she is known by her friends, has been bonding with her newborn at home – playing with her, feeding her, changing her nappies and regularly taking Summer for a dip in the pool.

But it's cuddle time at the end of the day that is just "perfect" for Becky.

The 26-year-old gave her Instagram followers a glimpse into her family life, and posted a photo of the mother-daughter duo getting ready for bed.

"Make up off, hair up, pjs on, Summer kisses & cuddles!!! Perfect," Becky captioned it.

The selfie showed the athlete and her baby perfectly in sync, both looking at the camera while the new mum planted a kiss on her daughter's head.

"She's started smiling and it's amazing. We absolutely love that," said Becky

In an interview with HELLO! Online, the Olympic gold medallist opened up about her baby's features and her personality that is gradually showing.

"Everyone says different things," said Becky, who married personal trainer Harry Needs last summer in a wedding exclusively covered by HELLO! magazine. "Most people say she looks like Harry but I think over the past few weeks she's started to look like me. You can definitely see she has features from both of us.

"Most people say she looks like Harry," said the new mum

"She's got my eyes and Harry's nose so it's nice that she has bits of each of us. I think now that she's awake more and she opens her eyes more, she looks more like me. She's very blonde, she's got really white eyebrows and eyelashes so I think she'll end up looking more like me because she's so blonde."

Becky, who has also described her daughter as "content" and "laid-back", added: "She's coming in to her own a bit more and she's started smiling and it's amazing. We absolutely love that. It's nice to get smiling shots of her."

The swimmer and her husband welcomed their first child on 8 June.
