The arrival of Ryan Gosling's second child might have been one of this year's best-kept secrets, but he couldn't help but gush about his role as a father during a recent interview with People. "It sounds so clichéd, but I never knew that life could be this fun and this great," the star revealed this week.Ryan, 35, and his long-term girlfriend Eva Mendes, 42, welcomed little Amada Lee Gosling on Friday 29 April at Providence St John's Health Center in Santa Monica. Amada joins big sister Esmeralda Amada, 20 months. Both girls carry the name of Eva's late grandmother, and the actress previously revealed that Amada means 'beloved' in Spanish.

News of Eva's second pregnancy only emerged on 14 April, and the couple managed to keep Amada's birth completely under wraps.Similarly, they kept their first pregnancy a secret for many months, with an insider explaining to People that Eva "just hasn't ever wanted anyone beyond her close friends and family knowing more than they had to. And Ryan is certainly private and always has been".Eva and Ryan met on the set of the 2012 movie Beyond The Pines, and despite being one of Hollywood's hottest couples, prefer to keep their personal life totally out of the spotlight.

Ryan did open up about his happy family life in a recent interview with HELLO! magazine, however. "I know that I'm with the person I'm supposed to be with," he sweetly said, before adding that the only quality he looks for in a woman is "that she's Eva Mendes. There's nothing else I am looking for".Eva, meanwhile, has said in the past that she wasn’t planning to get married or have children – but "with Ryan things are different", a friend told People. "She's very independent, but she's content with her partner. She has finally found the person she really wants to be with."
