Sir Chris Hoy's wife had some very exciting news to share on Wednesday's episode of Lorraine. Sarra Hoy confirmed to the chat show host that the couple are expecting their second child together. Chris, 41, and Sarra are already parents to son Callum, who had to be delivered 11 weeks early and weighed just 2lbs 2oz when he was born in 2014. Given their past experience, Sarra admitted she didn't think she would have "ventured down that road again" but said; "We've got support of a great doctor, we feel really reassured."

She added: "Hopefully it's something that other people can take comfort from. I would never have thought I would have ventured down that road again but actually time is a great healer and we're so excited about it." Asked whether she felt more anxious this time around, Sarra replied: "Maybe. The point is, prematurity or having a sick baby, it's unexpected for most people. So that's the shock of it. It might not happen again, but we'll see."

Sarra – who is an ambassador for the charity Bliss, which helps provide care and support for premature and sick babies and their families - also opened up about the kind of father Olympic champion Chris is. "He's just such a lovely, lovely dad to Callum, and he adores him," she said. "And I think he's now, knowing how wonderful it is with Callum now, he's super excited about this next one."

Sarra previously appeared on Lorraine back in November 2015 – her first TV appearance since Callum's arrival – to raise awareness of premature births. The Edinburgh-born mother revealed she had to be given an emergency caesarean section after being diagnosed with preeclampsia and HELLP Syndrome."“It was a terrifying time," she told her host. "I barely had a bump. I wasn't even in maternity clothes. It had been a very healthy pregnancy but I'd been in hospital feeling slightly unwell the week before, and then suddenly we were told he had to come out." She also paid tribute to her husband. "I have to say Chris was amazing and was my absolute support," she said.
