The film awards season between November and March means sartorial critics and beauty lovers have a plethora of looks to keep us warm during these bitterly cold months.

Last week’s Golden Globes already brightened up this dull January, and last night’s Critics Choice Awards 2023 were no less exceptional.

Amidst the abundance of lip shades, varying thickness of winged eyeliner and adventurous hair updos, there was one recurring theme that oozed through every beauty look of the evening: the utmost sophisticated glamour.

Here are 7 of the best beauty looks you need to see:

Julia Roberts

Four time Critics Choice Award winner Julia Roberts' auburn tresses hung loose and wavy, complementing the autumn-toned embellished neckline of her Schiaparelli gown. The nude eyeglam and thin black liner complimented her hooded eyes, created by artist Genevive Herr using Lancome.

Julia Garner

Julia Garner’s blonde pixie cut is our current favourite a-list haircut. Last night she wore it in a centre parting and slicked back, oozing elegance. Her incredible red lip look was enhanced by her mega sheer red Ferragamo dress and dazzling Bulgari bijouterie. Her makeup was courtesy of Hung Vanngo using all Chanel products. Her tantalising lip was created with “Le Crayon Levres Longwear Lip Pencil in shade 174 Beige Rouge Tendre” and “Rouge Allure Velvet Lip Colour in shade 48 Ardente”

Phoebe Dynevor

The Bridgerton actress nailed the barely there makeup agenda, with her ‘no make up-make up’ look giving her flawless complexion the spotlight. A look created with Charlotte Tilbury products, she looked totally goddess-like with loosely braided hair and an ethereal Louis Vuitton gown.

Janelle Monae

The Glass Onion: Knives Out star is always creating captivating looks on the red carpet, and her see-through Vera Wang dress last night lived up to our expectations. Her dewy skin and sultry winged liner was captivating, only further complemented by (literal) pieces of black string zig-zagging across her head. Her stylist Keita Moore posted images of Janelle to his Instagram saying “Strings attached”. She never fails.

Claire Foy

Another British actress sporting a British makeup brand. The Crown leading lady turned heads with a deep red lip and smokey eye created with Iconic London products. Make up artis Kelly Cornwell is the magician behind her glow that gave her dazzling stacked diamond bijouterie a run for its money.

Anya Taylor Joy

Hair stylist Gregory Russell opted for a red-carpet version of the messy bun for her bright blonde tresses, with the sculpted style enhancing her razor-sharp cheekbones. Her face-glam created by Georgie Eisdell was crafted using all Dior products, with cool-toned eyes and a black eyeliner/waterline combo as the mesmerising standout feature. It was created using “Mono Couleur Couture - #530 Tulle and #658 Beige Mitzah” and  “5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palette - 649 Nude Dress”

Lily James

“Lily’s reference for tonight’s beauty look was Old Hollywood Glamour” said Sofia Tilbury in a press release from Charlotte Tilbury. This timeless look seems to be a recurring theme for the Critics Choice nominee. Her timeless nude lip and gold highlighter combo was paired with “sultry eyes to hypnotise using Charlotte’s Super Nudes Easy Eye Palette and lashings of Pillow Talk Push Up Lashes Mascara.”
