The classic black lingerie set has been brought into the spotlight this week, following the release Miley Cyrus’ new song, Flowers.
As we all now well know, the song was released on the birthday of her former fiance Liam Hemsworth, and the Disney Channel alum has thrown some serious 'shade' at her ex on the track. The song has now gone viral and is already trending on TikTok.

In the music video, Cyrus is seen sporting a black lace lingerie set around an LA mansion and sartorialists are feeling inspired. New data from Lounge Underwear has revealed online searches for ‘black lingerie sets’ increased 413% in the last week following the launch of Flowers, which is the first taste of her upcoming album Endless Summer. The song has captured the hearts of her fans, who believe the song is a riff on Bruno Mars’s 2012 hit, When I was your man (which Liam once dedicated to her) is all about Miley being more than happy on her own after a breakup. Many eagle eyed internet sleuths have pointed out the similarities between the lyrics of both songs on social media.

Since launching on January 13th, the video has already accumulated over 31 million views on Youtube, 26.7 million views on #flowersmileycyrus on TikTok as well as 133k uses of the sound so far.

Lingerie isn’t the only fashionable moment in the music video of course. The singer dances in the Hollywood hills celebrating her single status while wearing a stunning gold Yves Saint Laurent set and dark shades. The lamé two-piece boasts a low-rise floor skimming skirt as well as a matching hooded crop top, a la Grace Jones. It first made its appearance on the YSL fall/winter runway show back in 1991. Towards the end of the video, Miley wears an oversized black suit sans shirt.
