Elaborate beauty trends come and go, but when it comes to everyday usage, we're all about easy-breezy achievability. Suffice to say, we wish we possessed makeup skills to rival those of today's top artists, but that's a pipe dream, and sadly we can't all have a pro on speed dial.
What we can all do, however, is give Chanel's cool-girl silver eyeshadow a whirl. Hitting the sweet spot between effective and easy-to-achieve, the maison unveiled cool-hued shimmery lids at its AW23 show and we are head over heels.
The label's creative director Virginie Viard brought her mostly monochromatic vision to life at the Grand Palais Éphémère. Models graced the runway in white billowy lace shirts, relaxed-fit houndstooth tweeds, and black quilted separates.
Celebrating the house's iconic camellia motif, shoes were adorned with white glossy flowers and classic check prints were infused with clusters of the floral emblem.

But what captured our attention above all else was Chanel's effortless-feel eyeshadow. Models sported a wash of gleaming silver across their lids, serving an air of slapdash – but in the best possible sense. The pigment was taken all the way up to the brow bone and also under the lower lash line – super achievable in a short space of time.

If your dexterity levels leave a lot to be desired (guilty as charged), Chanel's cool-girl lids will be a beauty trend godsend. Simply pat your ring finger into the pigment and gently swipe across your lids, buffing out with a fluffy eyeshadow brush to give your look a certain soft-focus effect. Eschew your lash curler in favour of a straighter, more natural look and instead go hard with the mascara on your lower lashes for a slightly clumpy, 1960s feel.
