Novak Djokovic Early Life

Novak was born in Serbia in 1987 to parents Srdan and Dijana, restaurant owners, and grew up in the conflict-torn Balkans. He has two younger brothers, Marko and Djordje.

He started playing tennis at the age of four, and two years later when he was six, he was sent to a tennis camp organized by the Teniski Klub Partizan, where he was discovered by Yugoslav tennis player, coach and talent scout Jelena Genčić.

Novak Djokovic Professional Life

By the time Novak was 14, he was already making waves in the international circuit, and in 2003, he began his professional tennis career with his entry to the the ATP Tour, right around the time fellow tennis superstars Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer were also establishing their tennis careers.

In 2005, he made his first Grand Slam tournament appearance at the Australian Open, and by 2011, he had three Grand Slam tournament victories from the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open.

Novak has since become one of the most famous and successful tennis players of his generation, with 23 Grand Slam men's singles titles to his name.

Novak Djokovic Personal Life

Novak met his future wife Jelena Ristić in high school, and they started dating in 2005. The two tied the knot on 10 July 2014 in Montenegro.

They welcomed their first son, Stefan, nine, in October of 2014, and their daughter Tara, six, in September 2017.
