As the grandson of Oscar-nominated Scottish actress Deborah Kerr and theatre veteran John Shrapnel, Alexander Carey "Lex" Shrapnel has acting in his blood. Born in London to the couple's younger daughter Francesca Ann Bartley, Lex grew up in Suffolk with his two brothers; actor and producer Tom and writer Joe. In 2002, while still studying at the Guildhall School of Music And Drama, he landed a role in Harrison Ford-led thriller K-19: The Widowmaker, and a part in Paris Hilton horror movie Nine Lives soon followed. Two years later he appeared as John Tracy in adventure film Thunderbirds before taking roles in a number of TV projects including Beneath The Skin, Sharpe's Challenge and The Last Detective. In 2009 he teamed up with Shane Richie for a remake of comedy classic Minder.
