Vanessa White - Biography

Her large Bambi-brown eyes and full lips may explain why one magazine described her as a "member of one of the best looking girl bands in the history of mankind". The fact that Vanessa White also has a powerful hit-the-high-notes voice too isn't lost on her bandmates in The Saturdays who call her their Christina Aguilera.

The baby of the bunch, she was born on 30 October, 1989 in Somerset to an English father and Filipina mum. Singing was always her dream – Vanessa even convinced her mum to call her baby sister Celine, in honour of diva Celine Dion.

After attending Sylvia Young Theatre school, also the alma mater of Adele and Rita Ora, she starred in West End productions such as The Lion King.

The songbird had already been signed as a solo artist when a spot in The Saturdays opened up and she joined Mollie King, Rochelle Humes, Frankie Sandford and Una Healy.

Fans immediately fell in love with their infectious energy and the image they conveyed of life as one long night out with the girls.

Their debut single If This Is Love landed in the top ten. More chart-topping tunes followed including All Fired Up, Higher, Notorious, Missing You and What About Us, their first No.1.

By 2010, The Sats had sold two million records, and were set on extending their domination to the States. In January 2013,  their reality documentary show Chasing The Saturdays premiered in the US. As the girls surfed, skated and shopped till they dropped in Beverly Hills, they won a new following.

It helped that their videos generally featured the divas doing something like playing snooker in barely there costumes or, like in Notorious, dressed as sexy secretaries stamping bits of paper with the name of the single.

Vanessa said the atmosphere on set didn't "even feel like working". "They are like sisters to me. We always take the mick out of each other and we are always laughing."

Despite her reputation as a party girl, Vanessa is the quietest of the quintet. When she starred in reality show Popstar to Operastar, she talked about how much she relied on them.

"I just feel so much better when I have them with me," she said. "Doing this on my own I am just really weirded out I rely on the other girls so much."

The other important person in her life is stylist Gary Salter, her boyfriend since spring 2011. But despite being head over heels in love, she's not ready to follow her bandmates Rochelle and Una down the aisle.

"I'm not interested in a ring right now. If he proposed, I'd probably say no. it took ages for us to even be girlfriend and boyfriend. It's hard to settle down when you're use to being single."
