Princess Margaret has been admitted to London’s King Edward VII Hospital for tests. “There is no cause for concern,” says a Palace spokesperson, though the Princess is expected to be in hospital for several days.

The 71-year-old royal, wearing dark glasses and a head scarf, arrived at the private facility this afternoon, looking frail as she was taken inside in a wheelchair. Though streets around the hospital were cordoned off by police, it is said that the stay was prearranged, and not an emergency admission.

“The Princess has been admitted for tests and is expected to be in hospital for a few days,” said a spokeswoman for Buckingham Palace. “Her close family have been informed.”

Though the Palace would not disclose details of Princess Margaret’s health, the BBC’s royal correspondent, Jennie Bond, said there were reports the Princess "had been feeling under the weather" in recent days.

The Queen’s sister has been plagued by health troubles over the years, including two strokes and a severe scalding accident. She recently had been diagnosed as suffering from depression and, over Christmas 2000, was hospitalised for appetite problems.
