Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria and her younger sister Princess Madeleine feted their country's capital city over the weekend, dressing up to the nines for a gala banquet to close off Stockholm’s week-long 750th-anniversary celebrations. Joined by King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, the two royal sisters showed off their shared beauty as well as their differing styles.

The crown princess chose an empire-waist frock with floral lace overlay for the City Hall event, setting off a choker necklace with an upswept hairdo, similar to the style she chose for Princess Martha Louise of Norway’s May wedding. Twenty-year-old Madeleine, on the other hand, once again showed a preference for strapless gowns – this time choosing a beaded confection – and wearing her blonde hair loosely over her shoulders.

Whatever their chosen looks, its clear that the young princesses have inherited their mother’s keen fashion sense. Queen Silvia was as stunning as her daughters, choosing a modern one-shouldered gown in asymmetrical black and white.
