Princess Madeleine posts stunning picture of idyllic Seychelles honeymoon

Princess Madeleine has posted a photo of herself on her honeymoon with her husband Chris O'Neill in the idyllic Seychelles in the Indian Ocean. In the stunning shot, the newlywed is seen standing on the beach in a summer dress and sun hat, looking out across the ocean as the water laps around her feet.

The couple are currently enjoying a blissful honeymoon complete with pristine beaches, staying in a luxury villa after their lavish Stockholm wedding. The newlyweds have followed in the footsteps of Prince William and Kate Middleton, who jetted off to the paradise islands for their romantic 10-day honeymoon after their royal wedding in 2011.

David and Victoria Beckham have also stayed at the celebrity favourite, known for its breathtaking beaches, turquoise waters and colourful coral reefs.

According to the Expressen, the honeymoon destination was a surprise for Princess Madeleine of Sweden. American financier Chris had planned the trip – enlisting the help of a few close friends – and kept the romantic break top secret from his wife-to-be.

Only the Princess's parents, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, were privy to the planned trip, while many mistakenly believed that the couple would spend their honeymoon in the Caribbean. Chris and Madeleine – who married in the royal chapel in Stockholm last weekend – will no doubt wish to enjoy the absolute seclusion offered by the intimacy of the Seychelles’ islands.

Their honeymoon is not only to mark the newly married couple's nuptials – Princess Madeleine also celebrated her 31st birthday just two days after their wedding day.

It is said that the pair, who look very much in love and happy in the photograph posted by Madeleine on Friday, are staying in a 500 square-metre private villa on one of the Seychelles' 118 islands.

The villa reportedly comes with a price tag of almost £5,000 per night.
