King Harald's state funeral is due to be held on 9 September after the former Norwegian monarch passed away at the age of 89 on 28 August.

Following his death, Harald's son, King Haakon assumed the throne, with the new monarch declaring a period of national mourning that is due to conclude on 9 October, a month after Harald is officially laid to rest.

Attendees for the funeral have been confirmed over the past few days, with more likely to come. One controversial attendee is the late King's step-grandson, Marius Borg Hoiby, who was convicted of rape back in June. Marius is appealing the sentence, meaning that it's not legally binding, and he has been granted permission to attend the funeral.

Other members of the Norwegian royal family including Haakon, Queen Mette-Marit, Queen Sonja, Princess Astrid, Crown Princess Ingrid and Prince Sverre are due to attend.

No British representative has yet been confirmed, with HELLO!'s royal editor, Emily Nash, saying on A Right Royal podcast: "There's some flexibility; there are obviously discussions going on behind the scenes, but last I heard it hadn't been decided.

"Now, quite often in a situation like this, it would fall to the heir. The King has master state concerns, he's up in Scotland when the funeral takes place. So, it's not impossible for him to attend, but usually he would deputize to his heir. So, it falls on William potentially to go and pay his respects on behalf of the Royal family."
