The Queen's youngest granddaughter Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor has undergone successful eye surgery, HELLO! magazine has learnt. Since Louise was born prematurely via an emergency Caesarean section, the ten-year-old has suffered from exotropia — a condition that turns the eyes outwards. Fortunately, the charming young girl can now see normally, following the operation.

Royal watchers first noticed the difference in Louise's appearance when she accompanied her parents Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex for a day's racing at Royal Ascot last December. Likewise, wellwishers who greeted the royal family outside Sandringham's St Mary Magdalene Church on Christmas morning noted the change.

This is not the first time that Louise has undergone an operation on her eyes. When the fair-haired girl was just 18 months old, she had an unsuccessful 30-minute operation under general aesthetic to try to correct the problem. The determined youngster has never allowed her eye problem to hold her back though, learning how to ride on horseback and excelling at her junior school.

The next big decision for her parents to take will be which secondary school she goes to, and in the long run, whether she plays a public role in the royal family.
