Kate and William made their first official visit to Dundee on Friday
After chatting and taking photos with the well-wishers, Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s parents entered into the Dundee Repertory Theatre to meet with other parents who are benefitting from mental health charity programmes.
After the meet and greet the Cambridges met with actors and staff who have been working on a theatre piece about mental health. In Her Shadows is about a young woman who struggles with depression and has to deal with the stigmas that surround the mental illness. The play is being put on during the annual Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival that is held during October.
The royal couple enjoyed a brief tour around the RRS Discovery
After leaving the theatre Kate and William went on to the youth venues The Corner and The Shore, where they participated in an anti-bullying workshop. Promoting knowledge and understanding of mental illnesses is a project close to the Duchess’ heart. Earlier this month she marked World Mental Health day with a charity visit and has previously spoken out about the need to provide early support to those that suffer from these disorders.
After the workshop the third-in-line to the throne and his wife went on a brief tour of Captain Scott’s ship the RRS Discovery, before heading to Abertay University to meet students and professors.
