Stars congratulate the Queen on her milestone 90th birthday

Stars from the UK have been sending their warmest wishes to the Queen on the occasion of her 90th birthday. From Prime Minister David Cameron to sporting legend David Beckham, the famous faces have been tweeting and posting photos on Instagram to show their support. The hashtag '#HappyBirthdayYourMajesty!' also started trending on Twitter.

Former England football captain David shared a picture of the monarch on Instagram and captioned it: "Happy birthday your Majesty..."

Fearne Cotton, who has met the Queen on more than one occasion, shared a throwback photo of herself and the royal, writing: "Happy 90th your Majesty."

David Walliams sweetly wrote that the Queen has "kept her promise" of serving the country. The comedian followed it up with another photo of himself, Her Majesty and pop band Girls Aloud. "This was an extremely proud moment for me, finally meeting Girls Aloud. #HappyBirthdayYourMajesty," he joked.

Opting for a photo of the Queen when she was younger, Geri Horner paid tribute, writing: "Happy birthday HRH. We love you. Beautiful and inspirational."

Jenny Packham, who is one of the Duchess of Cambridge's favourite designers, also shared a picture from the same era and captioned it: "Wishing Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II a very happy 90th birthday!"

The Prime Minister recorded a video message on Twitter on behalf of the nation, saying: "Her Majesty has devoted her entire life to the service of others, representing our country and carrying out all her duties with extraordinary grace and humility."

Mr Cameron went on to say that never has anyone in public life "served so brilliantly, worked so hard and brought so many people together."

"Her Majesty has been steadfast, a rock of strength for our nation, for our Commonwealth, and on so many occasions, for the whole world," he continued. "She is our Queen and we could not be more proud of her. Happy Birthday your Majesty, and long may you continue to reign over us all."

Retired Olympic swimmer Becky Adlington and former TOWIE star Lucy Mecklenburgh both posted the same picture of the Queen in a bright pink outfit, and sent their best wishes.
