Happy birthday Princess Madeleine! The Princess turns 34 on Friday, and to celebrate the Swedish Royal Palace has released a new official portrait of the sixth in line to the throne.

The beautiful image was taken at the christening of Madeleine's nephew Prince Oscar in May. Madeleine looked stunning in a dusky peach dress, with her hair tied back in a loose bun and accessorised with a fascinator. She looks truly happy and glowing in the portrait, which was captured by photographer Anna-Lena Ahlström.

"Today Princess Madeleine is 34-years-old. Happy Birthday! Anyone who wishes to leave a greeting to the Princess can do this on Facebook," the image was captioned.

Many royal fans sent their birthday messages to Madeleine on Facebook, thanking her for her loyal service and wishing her well for her special day.

Princess Madeleine is likely to be marking the day privately with her husband Chris O'Neill and their two children Princess Leonoreand Prince Nicolas.

Princess Madeleine has enjoyed a memorable year

It has been a memorable year for the Princess, who welcomed her son Prince Nicolas on 15 June. Madeleine went on maternity leave to enjoy time with her two children, during which she and her family moved to London, as Chris' job requires him to be in the UK.

The 34-year-old has since returned to royal duties, and recently showed her adorable daughter the ropes as she carried out her first official engagement at the age of two in her duchy, Gotland province.

Madeleine also has two new nephews to dote on in the past year; Crown Princess Victoria's son Prince Oscar, and Prince Alexander, the baby son of her brother Prince Carl Philip.
