Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has appeared at a public event for the first time since his exile to Sandringham.

The disgraced former Duke of York, 66, accompanied his younger brother, Prince Edward, and his wife, Duchess Sophie, to attend the Sandringham Horse Driving Trials on King Charles's estate on Sunday.

Andrew was seen driving his Land Rover Defender away from the annual event, with Edward leaving shortly afterwards. He was pictured in a light blue shirt with a pair of sunglasses, accompanied by a man with a dog, likely his security.

A source told The Sun that Andrew "sneaked in and out" without wanting to be seen, but reportedly joined crowds to cheer on Sophie, who was competing in the SanDrivingHam carriage driving challenge.

Edward, 62, looked relaxed in a green polo shirt and white chinos, with his arms crossed in photographs, while Sophie, 61, looked summery in a floral dress.

The couple was likely staying at King Charles's Wood Farm residence on the Sandringham Estate, where they often reside during the holidays.

Their daughter, Lady Louise Windsor, 22, would usually compete in the event, but appeared to be absent this year.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's exile to Sandringham

Prince Philip founded the Sandringham Driving Trials in 1982, and it now takes place annually the weekend after Royal Ascot.

Andrew resides on the Sandringham Estate at the five-bedroom farmhouse, Marsh Farm, after he was exiled from Royal Lodge in Windsor in February over his links to Jeffrey Epstein.

He was arrested just days later on his 66th birthday on suspicion of misconduct in public office and was held in custody for 11 hours.

Earlier this month, he was spotted with a mysterious bruise on his face while driving near his Sandringham home. The mark, which has since faded, is understood to have been caused by a medical condition, rather than any altercation or fall.

Andrew has rarely been seen since his arrest, but has occasionally been spotted going for solitary drives or dog walks.

Is Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor still in contact with his royal siblings?

Prince Edward was the first royal to see Andrew when he visited him over the Easter weekend. Meanwhile, Princess Anne was reported to have made a "secret phone call" to her brother at the time.

King Charles, however, is not believed to have been in contact with or visited Andrew.

Andrew's daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, are not known to have visited him since the move, though they were previously still believed to be in contact.

His ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, was spotted at a wellness spa in Austria in April, but has not been seen in public since.
