Princess Charlotte is growing up fast – and her latest appearance has royal fans doing a double take.
Fresh photographs shared by the Princess of Wales following her National Three Peaks Challenge offered a heartwarming glimpse of family life after Kate completed the gruelling fundraising feat for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. But alongside the emotional reunions, it was 11-year-old Charlotte's effortlessly cool off-duty style that caught the eye.
In one touching image, Charlotte stands beaming beside her mother after welcoming her at the finish line, while another captures the pair sharing a sweet moment together as Kate reaches out to hold her daughter's hands.
The candid family photographs also highlight just how tall Charlotte has become, with the young royal now looking almost shoulder-to-shoulder with her mother in some shots.
Charlotte's coolest look yet
Known for her polished dresses, smart coats and traditional silhouettes at official engagements, Charlotte embraced a far more relaxed aesthetic for the family outing.
She teamed a navy crew-neck knit with a pair of flattering flared blue jeans, a style that has made a huge comeback in recent seasons, before finishing the look with a pair of powder-blue trainers that wouldn't look out of place on today's biggest fashion influencers.
The understated outfit struck the perfect balance between practical and stylish for a day spent in the Welsh countryside, while her sleek ponytail completed the sporty ensemble. The photographs offered one of Charlotte's most grown-up off-duty looks to date.
A noticeable style evolution
Charlotte's wardrobe has always reflected the timeless elegance associated with the Wales family.
Throughout her childhood, she has worn classic designs from much-loved children's brands including La Coqueta, Rachel Riley and Pepa London, with her outfits consistently remaining age-appropriate while influencing children's fashion.
However, since celebrating her 11th birthday in May, royal watchers have noticed a subtle shift.
The young princess has increasingly stepped out in sophisticated designer labels that bridge the gap between childrenswear and teenage fashion.
Designer favourites
At this year's Trooping the Colour, Charlotte wore a bespoke ivory dress by royal favourite Alessandra Rich, complete with delicate appliqué detailing and a statement bow at the back. She accessorised with a Jane Taylor London hair bow and Pretty Ballerinas shoes.
For her official 11th birthday portrait released in May, she swapped traditional childrenswear for a Ralph Lauren cable-knit jumper from the brand's women's collection.
Earlier this year on Easter Sunday, she wore a bespoke Catherine Walker coat layered over a pale blue Self-Portrait dress, finishing the elegant look with Tory Burch ballet flats.
Why Charlotte's wardrobe is changing
Speaking previously to HELLO!, children's fashion stylist Charlotte Kewley explained that Charlotte's evolving style reflects a natural stage of growing up.
"Princess Charlotte's move towards more grown-up designer brands reflects a transition many children make around the ages of 11 and 12," she said.
"Hers is simply a more public and polished version of what we see happening in many families."
She explained that many traditional childrenswear labels stop producing larger sizes as children approach their teenage years, making designer brands with timeless aesthetics a natural next step.
"In my opinion, this is actually one of the least catered-for age groups in fashion, with relatively limited options between childrenswear and teenage fashion," Charlotte said.
"The designer labels Charlotte has been seen wearing are known for their classic, timeless aesthetic, rather than creating 'mini adult' looks. They offer an elegant middle ground, making them a natural and very chic choice for a young royal."
A proud family reunion
The new images were shared by the Princess of Wales to mark one week since completing the National Three Peaks Challenge, which saw her climb the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales in support of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
Kate was greeted at the finish by Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, her parents Carole and Michael Middleton and her brother James Middleton, who joined together to celebrate her remarkable achievement.
While the challenge itself showcased the Princess's resilience, the photographs also offered a rare glimpse of the Wales family's private celebrations, and highlighted that Princess Charlotte is emerging as one of the royal family's most stylish young fashion icons.
