It's never been a secret that Sarah Ferguson has an exceptionally close bond with her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie - the trio affectionately coined by one another as a 'tripod'. But there is one piece of evidence we have come across that may still leave you surprised.
Cast your minds back to 2003. The former Duchess of York was attending the Cowdray Park Polo Club to watch the semi-final of The Veuve Cliquot Gold Cup between Dubai and Hillingdon Sport.
Sarah, then 43, was her usual stylish self, sporting a beige pin-stripe blazer and quintessentially noughties tinted sunglasses - but it was her bag of choice that has left us flabbergasted. The mother-of-two proudly donned a large black shoulder adorned with a giant black and white portrait of her royal daughters.
Details of the bag in question
The bag was a bespoke £225 piece by designer Anya Hindmarch, and has been worn by Sarah on several occasions, most recently in 2017 when she attended a Tommy Hilfiger party in London.
There, Sarah was joined by the likes of supermodels Bella and Gigi Hadid, and while her royal daughters were not in attendance, they were certainly there in spirit!
Sarah also rocked the back adorned with her daughter's face when the trio enjoyed a girls' night in London's West End in 2006, when they watched Dirty Dancing at the Aldwych Theatre.
Sarah's bond with Beatrice and Eugenie
During an interview with The Telegraph in 2008, Eugenie said: "Mummy, Bea and I call ourselves 'The Tripod'. They are my best friends in the world."
Sarah recalled this phrase during an exclusive interview with HELLO! While talking about how her girls were at the centre of her strength during her journey with cancer after she was diagnosed with two separate cancers within months of each other.
In June 2023, Sarah revealed that she'd been successfully treated for breast cancer. In January 2024, it was revealed that the mother-of-two had been diagnosed with malignant melanoma.
"They support me through thick and thin, not least my recent illness. We call each other 'The Tripod' because we prop each other up, come what may."
