Meghan Markle had an unexpected phone call from a loved-one interrupt her guest appearance on MasterChef Australia on Sunday.

Meghan appeared a bit perplexed when a producer walked on-screen and told her, "we've had a phone call to the studio," before passing over a phone. Meghan's face instantly lit up when she saw it was none other than her husband, Prince Harry, on FaceTime.

"Hi, my love!" Meghan answered the call with a beaming smile.

"G'day," Harry replied, sounding very Australian for his surprise TV cameo Down Under. "My husband's here," Meghan explained to the contestants who couldn't see who was on the other line, prompting a chorus of cheers.

"We wish you were here," Meghan sweetly said, explaining to the rest of the room that Harry couldn't be there because he was in the Australian capital, Canberra, meeting with veterans.

The Duke of Sussex then complimented the "very nice" studio set-up which had grand chandeliers hanging in the background. "We fancied the joint up for your beautiful wife," judge Poh explained. "That you guys have. Wonderful," Harry said.

Meghan flipped the camera around to show Harry the "delicious" dishes, including one with a spicy sauce that she joked "might be too much for you, though."

"Well, go and enjoy it. Very sorry to disturb you. All is well here, and I'll see you later," Harry signed off.

Meghan filmed her guest appearance on MasterChef during her four-day visit with Harry to Australia in April. The trip, which focused on mental health and youth empowerment, marked the couple's first time in Australia in eight years and included stops in Sydney and Melbourne.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex kicked off their trip with a visit to Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital and sailed around Sydney Harbour before Harry travelled to Canberra to meet veterans at the Australian War Memorial.

While appearing on the latest episode of MasterChef Australia, Meghan had a surprising name request. "Welcome. Do I call you Duchess?" Poh asked, to which Meghan gave her short answer. "Oh, call me Meghan. Absolutely, yeah."
