Princess Eugenie has shared a heartwarming photo from her private family album of her two sons being the "best big brothers" to her newborn daughter.

The royal took to Instagram on Monday to reveal her third child with husband Jack Brooksbank is named Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank. Along with a new solo photo of her baby girl, Eugenie shared an intimate family picture of her two boys – August, five, and Ernest, three – meeting their little sister.

August and Ernie cradled and doted over their baby sister who looked adorable in a onesie with a plush toy by her side. The photo was a rare one from the Princess who rarely shares photos of her children outside of birthdays and regularly angles their faces away from the camera.

"2 weeks ago today we welcomed our girl to the world. And since then we've had the most special, cosy and love-filled time," Eugenie wrote.

She added: "Augie and Ernie are already the best big brothers." The royal also shared photos of her newborn daughter wrapped up in a light blue blanket and a close-up picture of her tiny hand. All the new pictures were taken by the Princess herself, HELLO! understands.

Like his newborn sister, August's name was also not announced right away when he was born in 2021. Eugenie waited 11 days to share her first-born son's name with the world.

Newest addition to the family

Eugenie and her husband Jack's daughter was born on 3 August in Portugal, where they have been living with their two sons since 2022. Adelaide, who is 15th in line to the throne, was born at a hospital in Lisbon, weighing 6lb 9oz.

Eugenie announced the news on 4 August with a photo of her baby girl, whose name was not initially disclosed, in a cute pink knitted romper. The royal said she and her husband were "beyond in love with our girlie."

"Her Royal Highness and her daughter are doing well. Princess Eugenie and Mr Brooksbank are deeply grateful to the hospital staff for their care," Buckingham Palace shared in an official statement. The Palace added that King Charles, Queen Camilla, and "other members of the Royal Family" have been informed and are "delighted" by the news.

Meaning behind Eugenie's daughter's name

Two weeks after sharing her exciting baby news, Eugenie revealed her baby girl's name, which has a meaningful family link, on 17 August. Adelaide's middle name, Elizabeth, is a heartfelt tribute to Eugenie's late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

"We are so happy to share Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank. Named after three people we love and admire past and present, including her Great-Grandmother who we hold close in our hearts. Her name is part of English and Portuguese history, two places we love and call home," the royal wrote on Instagram.
