Royal Family RECAP: Princess Eugenie re-emerges in London as King Charles comments on Harry and Meghan's royal position

Hello, and welcome to a new week - and to HELLO!'s live blog!

I'm Eleanor, and I'll be bringing you all the royal family's news this morning. 

It's a very exciting week for the royals as it's the first major week back at work after the summer break. 

We're expecting to see Duchess Sophie, Princess Anne, Prince Edward, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, who are visiting the Bayeux Tapestry, after the King and Queen's visit there last week.

Over in Europe, Princess Leonor of Spain has her first day at university, while King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands are starting a multi-day regional tour.  

Meanwhile, preparations are continuing for King Harald of Norway's state funeral on Wednesday. Over the weekend, it was revealed that Prince William will be representing King Charles, who was the late monarch's second cousin once removed. Princess Anne will also be attending in a personal capacity.

Prince Harry and Meghan are also settling back into life in the UK - we shall bring you the latest when we get it!

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are back in the UK, the royal family is returning to work, and Prince George is starting at Eton College this week. 

It means that the Prince and Princess of Wales are preparing for a period of transition, very much taking control as they focus on their jobs and their children, George and his siblings, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, eight. 

Nevertheless, the presence of Harry and Meghan will be difficult to ignore. The couple, who are believed to be living in the Cotswolds, flew into Birmingham last month in time for their children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, to start school.

While William and Kate have a busy autumn schedule of official engagements lined up, including his work around homelessness and mental health and hers involving young children and families, Harry and Meghan will be in the public eye too.

For example, Harry is expected to be out in London later this month at the WellChild Awards, an annual event celebrating the courage of seriously ill children, hosted by the charity of which he is patron.

It's an exciting day for Princess Leonor of Spain, as she's officially begun her first day at university!

The 20-year-old brought the campus to a standstill this morning, as everyone wanted to catch a glimpse of the royal, who has just completed three years of military training. 

At just before 9 am, she arrived alongside thousands of new students at the Getafe campus, just outside the capital. 

The Princess looked effortlessly stunning in a casual white button-down T-shirt and denim jeans, with a black shoulder bag containing her studying essentials. She looked like a typical student with her blonde locks pulled back into a neat French braid. 

Leonor is starting a four-year programme in political science at Carlos III University of Madrid, just outside the city. 

It's part of her continued preparations for one day becoming Queen.

Queen Margrethe of Denmark has been admitted to hospital and will miss King Harald's funeral this week. 

The former Danish Queen, who abdicated the throne in 2024 in favour of her son, King Frederik, was admitted to Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen on Sunday with a new blood clot in the hip area and dehydration. 

This means the 86-year-old will not be able to travel to Oslo on Wednesday to attend the state funeral of King Harald of Norway as planned. 

A statement from the Danish Royal Household read: "Her Majesty Queen Margrethe was admitted to Rigshospitalet on Sunday after feeling unwell. 

"A new blood clot was detected in her hip area, as well as mild dehydration." 

The statement concluded: "Queen Margrethe is in good spirits and is progressing well under the circumstances. The Royal House will provide further information as soon as there are any updates."

Princess Eugenie has been spotted out in London for the first time since welcoming her third child, daughter Adelaide, on 3 August.

In photos obtained by HELLO!, the 36-year-old royal embraced casual post-baby style, pairing black leggings and a loose top with a plaid shirt tied around her waist. She looked radiant as she shared warm hugs and caught up with friends.

Adelaide Elizabeth Annina was born in Portugal, where Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank have a home. Since this appears to be her first UK outing since the birth, it's possible that she will introduce her new baby girl to her own parents, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who lives in Windsor, and Sarah Ferguson, who is thought to have only recently returned to the UK.

Meanwhile, Princess Eugenie's sister Princess Beatrice was spotted on the dance floor at the glamorous Swiss wedding of model Michaela Kocianova and Rafic Said in late August.

The royal chose a blush pink midi dress by Australian label Shona Joy, featuring pin-tuck tailoring, statement puff sleeves and modern waist cut-outs. One Instagram photo showed Beatrice letting her hair down and chatting with other high-society wedding guests.

King Charles has issued an official "letter of guidance" reaffirming that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are not working royals following their return to the UK.

Released by the Lord Chamberlain, the statement clarifies there is "no change" to the couple's position and confirms their HRH titles cannot be used.

Operating as "private citizens," the Duke and Duchess will run their charitable and commercial endeavours independently of the Royal Household. 

The guidance was distributed to senior stakeholders after Harry and Meghan moved back to the UK with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

"Any specific questions from official and State organisations about the courtesies which should be extended to the Duke and Duchess, and particularly where recourse to public funds may be required, should be directed to Buckingham Palace. Any operational security issues should continue to be directed to the relevant Police authorities," it concluded.

King Charles' letter comes as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are preparing for a return to the spotlight in the UK.

While they have successfully managed to keep a low profile since flying into Birmingham airport in August, friends of the Sussexes have revealed they have quietly been focusing on preparing for their children's first day at their new British school. This includes unpacking their belongings and buying school uniforms and pencil cases - without being spotted. 

Meghan is also said to be focused on rekindling her relationships with UK charities, particularly Smart Works, which she retained after the Sussexes stepped back as working royals. 

A representative from the charity recently told HELLO! that they "are very excited to welcome the Duchess and her family back to the UK".
