ROYAL NEWS LIVE: Duchess Sophie heads abroad days after becoming an empty nester

It's rare for press to cover Princess Anne live, with the royal famously always avoiding a fuss, therefore not inviting the media when she is carrying out engagements.

However, when it came to the extraordinary efforts of Sir Kevin Sinfield in raising awareness of and funds for Motor Neurone Disease, in memory of his friend and former Leeds Rhinos teammate, the late Queen's only daughter was more than happy to spread the word.

One of the journalists who attended the event was HELLO!'s royal editor, Emily Nash. She writes about how Anne arrived in style and her warm personality as she greeted everyone present.

British royal watchers will be thrilled as both the Duchess of Edinburgh and the Princess Royal will be out today. Fresh off of becoming an empty nester, Duchess Sophie is travelling to The Hague to attend the International Civil Society Action Network (ICAN) Forum.

Meanwhile, the ever-busy Princess Anne has three engagements today. She will start the day marking the Three Hundredth Anniversary of Sir Isaac Newton at The King's School, Lincolnshire. Her second engagement takes her to Kendrew Barracks, Rutland, where, in her capacity as Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Army Veterinary Corps, she will open the 1st Military Working Dog Regiment's new Clinic and Kennels. Her final engagement of the day will see her visit Mission Makers at the Alconbury Enterprise Campus as she is the patron of Magpas Air Ambulance Capital Campaign.

Meanwhile, the Luxembourg royals will be hosting the President of Finland for a state visit, while the Spanish royals are hosting French president Emmanuel Macron.
