The Princess of Wales is known the world over for looking incredibly elegant and beautiful at state occasions and royal engagements. We can always rely on her to put on a flawless display from head to toe, however, in 2025, she called herself out for missing one piece of beauty admin.

The royal was attending the Ty Hafan children’s hospice in South Wales, where she allowed one of the youngsters to paint her hand with red paint to create a bespoke artwork. While she was staring at her hand, waiting for the paint to transfer, she commented: "I should have done my nails."

It was unclear if she meant that her talons were left unmanicured or if she meant that she wished she had painted them a colour for the occasion.

As she removed her hand from the page, she made another self-deprecating comment, as seen in the clip above.

Does Princess Catherine wear nail varnish?

The royal normally adheres to the unofficial beauty rule of zero polish; however, she has been spotted in the past with a subtle nude glossy coat on her nails. Her 'Clean Girl' nail look is quite the beauty trend at the moment, with influencers embracing no varnish or a barely-there look.

Back in 2023, the royal did sport a statement nail, though. The princess looked poised and elegant on Easter Sunday, cutting a resplendent figure in a sapphire-hued coat dress to attend the Easter Mattins Service at St. George's Chapel in Windsor and she chose to team it with contrasting red nails. Very daring indeed!

Does Princess Catherine have any hangups?

While the mother-of-three doesn't often make comments on her physical appearance, she has been known to be conscious of her own speech-making skills.

After her very first official public address in March 2012 at East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH) in Ipswich, she reportedly told an attendee: "I find doing speeches nerve-wracking." Now, of course, the princess is well-versed in public speaking, and appears to be confident in doing so. Perhaps exposure therapy has been a good technique to tackle the fear.

Even heir to the throne, Prince William, has admitted to getting nervous when undertaking big speeches. In the documentary, Football, Prince William and Our Mental Health, an interviewer asked the prince: "I wonder if you suffered anxiety, obviously because you've got people looking at you 24/7?"

He honestly replied: "Certain days, especially certain speeches as well, when I was growing up, you definitely get a bit of anxiety about it."
