Ray Lewis spent his entire 17-year career with the Baltimore Ravens, earned 12 Pro Bowl selections, was named the NFL AP Defensive Player of the Year twice, and won two Super Bowls, but his greatest achievement is his six kids.

The NFL Hall of Famer, 51, is a dad to four sons and two daughters. Tragedy struck his family in 2023 when his eldest child, son Ray Lewis III, died at the age of 28 after an accidental overdose.

While his son's death was heartbreaking for Ray and his other children, he loves nothing more than being a father and calls his kids the "key to my heart."

He has six kids with four different women

Ray Lewis has six children with four different women. He had three sons, Ray Lewis III, Rayshad Lewis, and Rahsaan Lewis, with his ex, Tatyana McCall. He also shares a son, Ralin Lewis, with a woman named Sharnika Kelly. His daughters, Diaymon Lewis and Kaitlin Lewis, are from relationships with two different women.

On Father's Day in 2019, Ray paid tribute to his kids, sharing a throwback photo of five of them, writing: "God is the greatest Father ever, thank you for showing me the way. Thank you for my blessings- they are the Key to my Heart."

All four of Ray's sons inherited his athletic ability and played college football. His eldest played for the Miami Hurricanes at the University of Miami for two years before transferring to Coastal Carolina University. He was dismissed from the team after being charged with third-degree criminal sexual assault, which was later dropped, and in 2017, he finished his college career with the Virginia Union Panthers.

Rahsaan started at the University of Central Florida as a defensive back before spending a year at Florida Atlantic University as a wide receiver. He then transferred to the University of Kentucky as a receiver, where he scored his first collegiate touchdown in 2022 against Mississippi State.

Rayshad was also a wide receiver and played at Utah State and Maryland before transferring to Kentucky with his brother. Ralin, meanwhile, was a defensive back at Wootton High School in Rockville, MD.

His eldest son died aged 28

Ray Lewis III died on June 14, 2023, at the age of 28, of an accidental overdose. He was discovered unresponsive in a central Florida home. According to the Casselberry Police Department, narcotics and alcohol were present at the scene. His autopsy concluded that he died of fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine intoxication.

"This investigation is closed," Casselberry Police said in a statement at the time. "The evidence and witness accounts show this incident to be a tragic accident. Our sympathies go out to the Lewis family and friends."

Ray Lewis III has Stage 2 CTE

Ray Lewis III had Stage 2 CTE

Nearly a year after Ray Lewis III's death, it was revealed that he suffered from Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), a progressive, fatal brain disease linked to repeated head injuries and concussions.

The Concussion Legacy Foundation (CLF) announced in a statement in May 2024 that Ray had Stage 2 CTE, noting that "CTE can only be diagnosed after death."

"Little did I know when I put my son in tackle football at age 5, I ran the risk of having to bury him 22 years later," his mom, Tatyana McCall, said, per the release. "I would have done something different now knowing the risks. We need to wait until our babies are at least 14 to allow them to play tackle football. It also breaks my heart that you have to die to get a diagnosis for this disease."

Dad Ray added: "We are proud to honor Ray Ray’s legacy by teaching our youth about football safety while sharing and supporting research on CTE."

His daughter introduced him at his Hall of Fame ceremony

Ray's eldest daughter, Diaymon, presented him at his Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony on August 4, 2018.

"My presenter is someone that I trust with my legacy, even after I'm gone," he said in an interview with the Hall of Fame website. "She's a female me. She's driven and she's inspirational. She's wired right."

"It meant a lot when he asked me to present him to the Hall of Fame," Diaymon told PressboxOnline.com. "I didn't want to tell him, but I was a little nervous when he asked me, but I already knew I was going to do it. I was going to do it because I felt like there is so much that he’s done, and there’s just no way I could say no."
