Inside Superman star Dean Cain's single dad life with son — after winning custody from Playboy model ex

The former couple got joint custody of their son in 2003. In 2011, Dean got full custody of Christopher, which was a mutual decision for the former pair, and Dean revealed to People: "Stability-wise, this is what's best for him."

Dean also called Christopher his "favorite person on the whole planet."

The star opened up about how his busy schedule as an actor made being a single father "difficult." He shared: "I've learned to make the decisions that put him first."

The entertainer wanted to be a consistent father figure for his son, therefore, he prioritized being a father over being an actor.

Dean also expressed how his own childhood later affected his life as a parent.

He explained to Fox News: "As soon as I was presented the choice, it was like, 'I'm going to be a dad.' My father adopted me when I was four, and I know how important that was for my life. Nothing in my life has been as big a factor as having my father there to raise me."

Dean continued: "And I just think it's hugely important, and I would never change what I've done in terms of being a father versus a career."

After becoming a father, Dean started to get more picky when it came to which movies he'd work on because he always had his son on his mind.

He shared with Crosswalk: "I started making kids movies when he was a little kid. Not all the films I make are faith-based and they're not all inspirational, but a large majority are because I want my son to be able to see those films, I want him to learn from them."

He added, "I want him to watch the way I'm living my life and the choices that I'm making and say, 'I see why he's doing that. I see why he wants to help out.'"

Christopher graduated from High Point University in May 2023.
