George Strait turned 74 on May 18, and during his successful decades-long career, he's always been a heartthrob.

The "King of Country Music" previously revealed what his secret to longevity is, and it stemmed from being inspired by the greats, as he shows no signs of slowing down.

He shared with Cowboys and Indians Magazine: "Staying focused and believing that what you're doing is good is important; you have to believe in yourself. I always felt like I knew what worked for me and what didn't. That might not be the key to longevity – but who can honestly even say what might be?"

The singer added: "I just always knew that I wanted a career like Merle Haggard or George Jones. I wanted to still be relevant when I got older. Those guys are still relevant and always will be in my book."

Besides his strong work ethic even in his 70s, George makes sure to exercise regularly, rides his horses daily, eats locally grown fruits and vegetables, and consumes lots of lean protein.

In 2020, George underwent a knee replacement surgery and remained optimistic ahead of his recovery post-operation.

He revealed on social media: "I know the road ahead won't be easy, but I'm staying positive. Healing comes through faith, family, and the music that has always kept me going. I'm taking it one day at a time, but I can't do it alone."
