Where is '00s singer Colbie Caillat now, nearly 20 years after hit song 'Bubbly'
The singer, who rose to fame on MySpace, is currently a five-time Grammy nominee and two-time winner, thanks to her work with Jason Mraz and Taylor Swift
Colbie Caillat, who turned 40 on May 28, 2026, is probably still feeling that bubbly feeling in her toes, crinkling her nose.
And nearly two decades since she rose to fame, so are her fans! The singer-songwriter has remained a fond memory for many of the 2000s era of indie and folk-pop, thanks to her Grammy-winning efforts.

But over the years, Colbie has remained active in the music industry, not just in her own signature style, but also with genre pivots and a reunion with one of the world's biggest superstars. Take a look at Colbie's life since "Bubbly" in honor of her milestone day…
But first, a brief recap! In the early 2000s, Colbie developed a knack for songwriting and acoustic guitar, even auditioning for two of American Idol's earliest seasons with no luck. She did perform her original song, "Bubbly," for her second audition.
However, her MySpace page quickly blew up during that time, making her the number one unsigned artist in her genre, finally leading her to a record label and a debut album in 2007, Coco, which featured her signature hit. "Bubbly" was a global top 10 hit, and the album itself was certified multiple times platinum in several countries.
Her follow-up album, 2009's Breakthrough, became her first number one album in the United States. 2010 in particular proved to be a banner year for the musician, with Breakthrough earning a Best Pop Vocal Album Grammy nomination.
On top of that, she won two Grammys that year, first with Jason Mraz for Best Pop Collaboration for their duet "Lucky," and then as a contributor to Taylor Swift's Album of the Year-winning Fearless (for their collab "Breathe").
Colbie's next album came in 2011, All You, which featured the top 40 hit "I Do," so far her latest top 40 charting effort in her native United States. The album was a top 10 hit, however, and was followed the next year by her first Christmas album, Christmas in the Sand.
2014's Gypsy Heart was another top 20 hit, but it was her last album to be released with a major record label. She released 2016's The Malibu Sessions with her own independent record label, PlummyLou Records.
In 2018, Colbie joined Justin Young, Jason Reeves, and Nelly Joy (aka Danelle Leverett) in forming the country group Gone West. The group debuted at the Grand Ole Opry, releasing their single "What Could've Been" the following year.
They released their only album, Canyons, in 2020, which was a top 40 hit on the US Country charts. However, just a few months later, the group disbanded.
In 2021, Colbie re-recorded her vocals for her collab with Taylor "Breathe" for Fearless (Taylor's Version), which brought her back onto the charts. In 2023, she made her first solo venture into country with her comeback album Along the Way, released under her independent label Blue Jean Baby.
Colbie has since continued to release music, with her last album being 2025's This Time Around, a collection of duets. She also continues to tour worldwide, and in April 2026, she featured on the song "If the World Was Ending" with Brett Young.
And fans are still just as obsessed with Colbie now as they were in her MySpace days, with recent comments on her social media posts like: "Stunning as ever," and: "Colbie, you look amazingly beautiful as always."
In 2009, Colbie began dating fellow musician Justin Young, who is best known in the contemporary Hawaiian music scene. They announced their engagement in May of 2015, and paired up with spouses Jason and Nelly for their country quartet.
However, in 2020, they called off their engagement and separated after 11 years together, which was the reason for Gone West to disband.
