Lena Dunham was flooded with online support, as she revealed an unexpected update from LA.
The Famesick author got candid while recalling the confusion and limbo she felt when she first moved to the Golden State in her early 20s, and the challenges she faced at the time.
She expressed: "Huge chunks of Famesick involve feeling lost and delirious in Los Angeles, like a rusty teapot dropped in a CB2! But coming back at the top of my fifth decade (sounds very official, sounds very adult)."
Despite the struggles she faced adapting to her new environment, she acknowledged the good that took place too.
Lena shared: "I am realizing how much magic happened here too. LA loves a comeback, has proven herself to be the queen of the form, and is back in my heart in a big way. Never left, in fact- being anxiously avoidant is just the pained inverse of once having being in love, which I was when I landed here at 23."
The TV star went on to thank her fans for supporting her book, while hearing her out without judgement, pertaining to her likes and dislikes of the city.
The actress revealed: "Thank you for welcoming Famesick with such open arms, even if it's critical of some essential LA practices like full glam paired with athleisure at Alfred Coffee, the early fetishization of avocado toast and straight guys being allowed to drive."
Lena recognized LA's specific culture and looks forward to visiting soon, regardless of her takes on it.
She concluded: "I can't wait to return here again and again, comfortable with looking pallid and overdressed as I wait in line for a trendy caffeinated beverage. In the meantime, I'll be trolling with 'personal life' section of every golden age starlet’s Wiki, and realizing that the common denominator in her five marriages is that she couldn't quit LA."
Fans react
Fans flocked to Lena's post to praise her new book and her authenticity.
One person wrote: "Devoured your book. Loved every word. As a 'woman of a certain age' dealing with celiac disease and perimenopause and nervous system breakdown I related 1000000000000%."
A second follower added: "I feel so honored to have been in that same space with you, Wednesday night. Famesick is one of the greatest memoirs ever written. To say you are a 'voice of a generation' is an understatement. Love you now and always."
Another fan wrote: "I wish I could read the book again for the first time."
