Michelle and Barack Obama's youngest daughter, Sasha Obama, celebrated her milestone 25th birthday on June 10, and fans couldn’t help but think the former-president’s daughter was the spitting image of her famous mom.

Michelle, 62, shared the sweet snap to her instagram, writing a warm message to her youngest daughter, which read: “Happy 25th birthday, Sasha! It’s been such a joy watching you grow into a brilliant, beautiful young woman as you blaze a trail of your own. I couldn’t be prouder of you.”

The mother-daughter duo twinned in chic, minimalist looks for the occasion, as Michelle sported a burgundy long sleeve top and gold hoops, while Sasha opted for an equally understated sleeveless black top.

Sasha graduated from the University of Southern California in 2023 with a degree in sociology. Her name appeared in the credits of the reality series Couples Therapy, sparking rumors that she might follow her sister, Malia, into the entertainment industry. But she's since returned to school, though her exact focus isn't public.

The pair could be seen leaning together, smiling warmly, as it is obvious the mother-of-two harbours a close relationship to her girls. She is not shy to sing their praises either, giving a proud update on The Jennifer Hudson Show, earlier this year: "They are amazing," adding: "Sasha is in school, Malia has a budding career in film. They are smart, they're funny, they're wise in their own ways and I love spending time with them."

Like any parent, though, the former First Lady has been honest about her girls reluctance to share in their mother’s advice, opening up on Amy Poehler's podcast Good Hang to reveal, "The girls [say to me]," she said. "You know, you're telling everybody things. You tell us [things] every day…you're kind of making sense."

Michelle recalled: "You know, every now and then I make a good point to them. And I was like, do you know who I am? I'm Michelle Obama. People line up for my advice and you, you're walking away like I'm stupid."

It’s a reminder that the 44th President of the United States and his author wife, are not immune to the universal trials of parenting, and regardless of their parents political or public endeavors, Sasha and Malhia continue to want to forge their own path.

During a conversation with Kate and Oliver Hudson on their podcast Sibling Revelry, Michelle concluded that as they've gotten older, Malia and Sasha are "embracing" the principles she and Barack imbibed in them as parents, plus their actions when they were younger. "They understand us as full human beings now in the same way that I discovered that about my parents."

Perhaps in the same way we one day realise our parents are just people, Michelle hopes fans remember the same about her family, as they continue to grow, and maintain a semi-private life, under the microscope of life after the Whitehouse.
