New York City was left absolutely buzzing on Saturday, June 13, after the New York Knicks, following a record-breaking playoff season and nail-biting Game 5, clinched their first NBA Finals win in over 50 years, stunning the San Antonio Spurs.
In Knicks fashion, they were slow to start, but, also in Knicks fashion, they made a glorious comeback, taking the lead in the ultimately 94-90 game.
And though the final game took place in the Spurs' home arena in Texas, the seats were packed with New Yorkers, among them beloved Knicks superfans like Spike Lee, John Turturro, Ben Stiller, Timothée Chalamet, Tracy Morgan, and more.

The Law & Order: SVU star is Finals MVP Jalen Brunson's favorite of the celebrity row's mainstays. The actress shared a photo of the Knicks captain as a child that read: "You found a way," and she added in her caption: "And you lead the way for so many. Congratulations to you all and deepest thanks. #NBAFINALS CAPTAIN @jalenbrunson1 @nyknicks CHAMPIONS #BELIEVE."
The TODAY anchor, who is from Queens, shared on Instagram: "I was 18 years old when this last happened! These last two games are for the ages. Thank you @nyknicks for this wild ride!!! It was worth the wait," referring to the Knicks' 1973 final win.
The former TODAY anchor shared a photo of Jalen hugging his dad Rick Brunson, a coach for the Knicks and former player, who was in the last team to be in the Finals in 1999. "Pure joy. @jalenbrunson1 and his dad, assistant coach Rick Brunson. Not only is Rick's birthday today, Sunday, June 14th, this is going to be one very special Father's Day. Congratulations to all the Knicks. New York loves you. You've sent our hearts soaring. (and given us plenty of palpitations too!!!)," she wrote.
The Office Romance actress, who was born and raised in the Bronx, shared a video of her reacting to the epic win, and wrote: "Congratulations to the New York Knickerbockers, NBA Champions!!!!! I remember the last time the Knicks were making a run for the championship and rushing home every game day from the set to watch Ewing, Starks and Oakley make a hell of a run. We have all been waiting patiently for this day for years. Thank you for uniting our city again…for uniting the world. You restored faith, hope and belief in that there's nothing we can't do!! Hard work, goodness and teamwork pays off! You set the city on fire!! Proud to be from the block!! You already know. Knicks forever. CONGRATULATIONS!!"
The Dune actor, who was raised in Hell's Kitchen in a Mitchell-Lama program building, was in San Antonio for the win, and was seen celebrating in the Knicks locker room, the players splashing the overjoyed Oscar-nominee with champagne and chanting Lisan al-Gaib, his Dune character. "Way rather this than the Oscars," he was also captured saying.
The "No One" singer, also born and raised in Hell's Kitchen, celebrated the premiere of her documentary Alicia Keys: Girl From Hell's Kitchen on the very night of the big win, and performed none other than "Empire State of Mind," her and Jay-Z's ode to New York City, in a Knicks leather bomber jacket.
The CBS Mornings anchor shared a slew of videos of her celebrations, featuring ABC anchor and former New York Giants defensive end Michael Strahan and wrote: "I predicted @nyknicks in six but Knicks in 5 is even better! So fun to watch the game with people who want them to win as much as you do — and now NY is giddy and oh so proud."
