Christian Aguilera has long been synonymous with her Y2K sartorial agenda. From her low-rise silhouettes and embellished tank tops that showcased her signature belly-button piercing to the Versace 1999 silver butterfly chainmail dress, her fashion choices have never erred on the side of caution. Now, she's embracing that same fearless approach to style, but with an ethereal, princess-inspired twist.

The singer graced the stage at the Center's John Lewis Plaza on June 18 for the grand opening of the Obama Presidential Center. The ceremony brought together "global leaders, artists, changemakers, and citizens for an inspiring celebration of the values that shaped the Obama presidency and continue to power civic engagement across generations."

Christina wore a sheer, champagne-hued mesh dress that featured an off-the-shoulder neckline with a flowing silhouette. The garment featured intricate ruched detailing across the bodice, with layers of fabric adding texture and dimension. It was further elevated by shimmering embroidered embellishments. The gown was styled with open-toe gold heels.

At its core, the naked dress trend is defined by its barely-there materials, sheer mesh, metallic knits, chainmail, lace, and airy organza all play a part in its ethereal appeal.

The star's luscious blonde locks were styled into bombshell curls while her makeup oozed soft glam, courtesy of a smoky eye and a glossy lip.

Christina was asked to sing Barack Obama's favorite song, "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong. However, ahead of the performance, the hitmaker admitted that she had never sung the song before in public. Nevertheless, Christina came up with a new arrangement for the occasion, and her stunning vocals earned her a loud applause from the crowd.

Christina's confidence

Back in 2024, the singer opened up to Glamour about the narrative surrounding her body during the height of her fame. "When you’re a teenager, you have a very different body than when you’re in your 20s," she said. "I started to fill out, and then that was unacceptable because it was like, 'Oh, she’s getting thicker.' Then I had industry people: 'They liked your body and how you were as a skinny teenager.'"

She continued: "I have a maturity now where I just don't give a [expletive] about your opinion. I'm not going to take it on. It must be your responsibility to take up your space. Other people's opinions of me are not my business."

"Your kids trigger things in you that you don't want them to go through. And it’s almost like you're reliving this whole thing again," she added.
