Craig Melvin will never forget his interview with Deidre Hall after she made one of his dreams come true by 'slapping' him across the face.
The TODAY anchor made the unorthodox request after interviewing the Days of Our Lives star amid her 50th anniversary of playing Dr. Marlena Evans on the soap opera.
"Of all of the storylines that you've been a part of over the years, what I've always enjoyed is your ability to slap," Craig told her. "You're a great slapper."
Making his request, he added: "It would be one of the greatest professional honors of my life if you could slap me," and Deidre was "privileged" to oblige. Watch the moment Craig gets 'slapped' in the video above.
The duo then got into position, with Deidre explaining to Craig how she was going to 'slap' him after he jokingly warned her not to "hurt the money maker," referring to his face.
When he was ready with his back to the camera, Deidre pulled her arm back and swung her hand towards his face as he jerked his head to the side, giving viewers the illusion that she had slapped him, Days of Our Lives-style.
Playing up the part, Craig pretended to be hurt and cried out in pain as the crew erupted into applause.
"Oh my God, my God, my God," Craig exclaimed, telling Deidre: "You're the best."
