Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos opened up about their potential plans to 'downsize' their $27 million townhouse on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

During the July 7 episode of LIVE!, the couple discussed whether they would ever move from their beloved abode. The topic arose from a trend report of adult children moving back in with their parents as the cost of living continues to surge.

"49 per cent of adults under age 30 said they lived with a parent. That's up 12 percentage points from 2019. Nearly a third of those adults were over 25. They're saying it doesn't carry the stigma it once did because of how unaffordable life has become. That is true. That's a real thing. We used to be able to afford rents. When I look at rents now, I'm astounded. I don't know how people live with less than eight roommates in New York City," said Kelly.

The couple then revealed that Kelly's nephew, Sergio Ripa, has been staying with them while touring with his band. However, Sergio also invited his friends. "There were seven kids. There were only seven last night, so we're running, uh, we're running a not-for-profit hostel, a youth hostel," shared Mark.

"Should we downsize? I'm like, how can we possibly downsize? Everybody lives here all the time," added Kelly. "You should! Find someone else to sponge off," replied Mark.

However, Kelly then proceeded to shut down the idea. "No, you’re wrong," she said, "They would still live with us. They would all be in our room with us."

"No, they wouldn't. I was looking around, and then you know I was tired because I was flowing the night before, I was just looking around. My thought was'‘Don't you guys have some place to be?'" said Mark.

The couple previously gave Architectural Digest a peek inside their $27 million townhouse on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Kelly and Mark purchased the lavish abode 12 years ago and transformed it into a modern living space with notes of French and Old Hollywood glamor inspired by the film Mommie Dearest.

Kelly called her home her "favourite place on earth". "We’ve moved several times in our lives, but no matter where we go, for me, this is my forever home," she shared. "When I walked in here, I was like, 'This is the final place where I will live.' I love this house so much." She continued: "I don’t want to sound morbid but they’ll have to carry me out of here feet first because I have gotten good and comfortable in this house."

The couple have enjoyed living alone since their kids, Michael, Lola, and Joaquin, all respectively flew the nest for college. During an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the TV stars opened up about the changes to their home life since they waved goodbye to their children. In response to Jimmy asking how it's been since the siblings embarked on their new chapters, Kelly said: "It's amazing.
