Antoinette Bower, the prolific actress known for her roles in Star Trek, The Twilight Zone and the horror classic Prom Night, has died aged 93.
The German-born British star died on April 30 at a senior retirement home in the Eagle Rock neighbourhood of Los Angeles, her longtime friend Carlotta Glackin confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.
News of her death was not publicly reported until Saturday July 11, 2026, and a cause of death has not been disclosed.
In the 1960s she appeared as the mysterious and powerful Sylvia in the Star Trek episode "Catspaw". Her character initially presented herself as a beautiful woman before revealing her true form as a giant catlike alien.
Antoinette reportedly continued receiving letters from Star Trek fans decades later, while William Shatner sent his condolences after learning of her death, Carlotta said.
Over a career spanning almost four decades, Antoinette became one of television's busiest and most recognisable guest stars.
She appeared in an extraordinary catalogue of shows, including Perry Mason, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Wagon Train, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., The Fugitive, Bonanza, Hawaii Five-O, Get Smart, Hogan's Heroes, Mission: Impossible, Columbo, Kojak and Murder, She Wrote.
She also appeared in the acclaimed miniseries The Thorn Birds before taking on the recurring role of Fox Devlin in the Canadian drama Neon Rider. She remained with the series for three seasons, from 1989 until 1992, before stepping away from acting.
Born in Baden-Baden, Germany, in 1932 to an English father and German mother, she moved to Canada in 1953 and worked as a copywriter and radio presenter before joining the CBC, where she wrote scripts, conducted interviews and began acting in live television productions.
She was previously married to American pop artist James Gill. A celebration of her life is reportedly planned for September in Pasadena.
