Maria Sharapova has been enjoying a slower pace of life during her romantic European getaway with her fiancé Alexander Gilkes.
The former tennis professional provided an inside look into her overseas vacation on social media as she shared a carousel.
The main picture featured a stunning shot of the star decompressing in a pool overlooking the mountains in the Dolomites, Italy, while donning a brown one-piece bathing suit and matching brown glasses.
Besides relaxing by the pool, the star also tapped into her adventurous side by showcasing pictures of the couple hiking, posing with llamas, and trying out the local beer and food.
She captioned the post: "It was so magical in the winter, we had to come back in the summer."
Fans react
Maria's followers were intrigued by her fun summer content, including a fellow tennis star.
Serena Williams joked in the comments, writing: "Where's my invite," as Maria responded: "Let's go after the finals," with a winking emoji.
One person wrote: "Lovely to see you Maria. Loved watching you play tennis. Enjoy your new life."
A second fan added: "Miss you on the tennis courts but [it] looks like you are nice and relaxed. Enjoy yourself." A third follower commented: "Perfect life."
Maria's love of tennis
Maria may have retired when she was 32 in 2020, however, she loves watching the sport in her down time.
The star recently attended Wimbledon and she shared a carousel of herself sporting a white button down long-sleeve shirt, beige skirt, black heels and brown glasses.
She captioned the post: "My happy place. Thank you @wimbledon for the most generous afternoon."
Prior to retiring, Maria was candid about needing to discover a new path in life career-wise for when her days of playing were over.
She recalled: "I recognized from an early age that as a woman, my career would end much sooner than in other professions. I was like, 'I've got to hustle. I've got to start learning from other people,'" per the Wall Street Journal Leadership Institute.
The athlete used the lucrative deals she earned while on the court, and made them into a "solid return on investment in the future."
Maria expressed: "When I was injured, or I had a break, I'd go to a business school, [and] I would take a few weeks. I would grow, I would take internships. I went to the NBA for a few weeks to shadow Adam Silver."
Since retiring, the star has launched her brand Sugarpova, and she's invested in a plethora of companies including Nike and Evian.
She's even appeared as a guest judge on Shark Tank in 2020.
