Kelly Clarkson's daughter is always looking out for her mom.
The "Since U Been Gone" singer's 12-year-old appears to run a tight ship in the Clarkson household, and during her mom's latest concert, she revealed what rule the tween had put in place for her performances.
In addition to River, the former The Voice coach also shares son Remington "Remy," nine, with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, who died at 48 in August 2025 after a battle with cancer.
© GettyIn videos shared on social media, a fan sitting near the stage during Kelly's latest residency night in Las Vegas is seen offering Kelly a drink, and though she appeared to be tempted to accept it, she said she couldn't take it.
"Right now, I need like — unless it's [expletive] Red Bull…" she said into her microphone, explaining: "I'm having one of those nights where I was like, so excited about the show and like actually getting to do it that I did not sleep much."
Indicating that if she took that, she would immediately fall asleep, she then revealed: "And I also promised my daughter, [who] knows better than me, to not take drinks from people that you don't know."

During the show, Kelly also addressed the impending end of her NBC talk show in August, as she remarked on the differences between filming for the network versus performing as a musician, especially when she was younger. "I would get fired [by] NBC, but I don't work there anymore," she teased.
"It's funny, you go to those HR meetings and you're like, 'Nobody on the road would last,'" she continued. "It's just a different world. I was 19 on a bus with dudes. 'What? I can't do what?' 'Yeah, that’s completely inappropriate.'"
© Getty ImagesKelly announced in February that her talk show was coming to an end after seven seasons, citing wanting to spend more time with her family as the reason. In 2023, she moved both her family and the show to New York City from Los Angeles, to be on the same coast as her extended family.

"This isn't goodbye," she maintained. "I'll still be making music, playing shows here and there, and you may catch me on The Voice from time to time… you never know where I might show up next."
