Whoopi Goldberg brought Anne Hathaway to tears during her appearance on The View on Monday, July 20.

The Odyssey star, who is pregnant with her third child, struggled to contain her emotions after Whoopi heaped praise on her for her performance as Penelope, the wife of the Greek King Odysseus, played by Matt Damon.

"Anne Hathaway, it's been wonderful watching you," Whoopi, 70, said. "It's been wonderful watching you grow up. And you have just blossomed, turned into this fabulous actress. Girl!"

"Don't," Anne warned as she appeared overwhelmed by Whoopi's praise, covering her face with her hands while tearing up. "No, don't," she repeated.

"Yes, you need to know!" Whoopi replied, which caused Anne to admit that she "would be crying" even if she wasn't pregnant.

"Well, it's something you need to know and remember," Whoopi added, with Anne responding: "I don't even know what to say, thank you. You know how I feel about you."

Anne's emotional TV appearances since pregnancy

It was only last week that Anne had another emotional moment on the TODAY show, after Craig Melvin surprised the mother-to-be with a special gift for her upcoming bundle of joy.

The journalist announced on the July 16 episode: "We wanted to celebrate you. We wanted to celebrate your bun there in the oven, and we got you a baby gift."

Anne immediately got tearful while shouting: "Don't! Don't!"

Craig added: "This is not something you can't find in stores," as Tom Holland interjected: "That is cute. That is double cute," while checking out the present.

The TODAY team surprised the A-lister with a The Odyssey-themed outfit for her soon-to-be little one, complete with a knitted headpiece, diaper bottom, shoes, and cape.

Craig joked: "When the child comes out, we want the child ready for battle. It is a Trojan outfit, custom-designed for the baby."

Anne inquired: "Who is talented enough to make all of this? Did you do it? That is so sweet."

Craig comically replied: "How did you know? With my own two hands. No, Alex and Lyle from wardrobe would kill me if I took credit."

Anne added: "This is appropriately epic. Thank you so much. This is amazing."

The clip was set to Barbara Lewis' song, "Baby I'm Yours," which she also used to caption the post, writing: "x Baby, I'm yours x."

Anne and Adam are already parents to sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, six, and the couple prefers to keep their family life out of the spotlight, but she has often spoken about motherhood, particularly her struggles with fertility over the years.

While announcing her second pregnancy, she shared a mirror selfie in which she captioned the post: "For everyone going through infertility and conception hell, please know it was not a straight line to either of my pregnancies. Sending you extra love."

In March 2024, she confessed to Vanity Fair about the post: "Given the pain I felt while trying to get pregnant, it would've felt disingenuous to post something all the way happy when I know the story is much more nuanced than that for everyone."
