Charlie's Angel's Jaclyn Smith, 80, stuns in yellow power suit as she reveals the 'worst' initial idea for show that co-star rejected

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the original Charlie's Angels series, Jaclyn Smith, 80 and Kate Jackson, 77 appeared on Good Morning America on September 10.

Jaclyn looked stunning as she donned a yellow power suit with a satin white tank top and white pumps, as Kate looked gorgeous in a black blazer, white tank top, white tailored pants and white sneakers.

Believe it or not, the studios initially had different plans for their vision for the series, which the stars passionately rejected. Kate argued that the studios "didn't have any faith" in the show before it took off.

Jaclyn revealed that the studio heads "originally [wanted] alley cats in black leather," as Kate commented: "Oh God. It was the worst." Jaclyn continued: "And then Kate went in and said 'absolutely no."

That wasn't the only important move that Kate made for the hit series — she also was the one who came up with having Charlie remain unseen. Kate shared: "I don't know, that just came out of nowhere."

Turns out that when she was pitching other ideas for the show in her boss' office, the concept came to her like a lightbulb moment. 

She recalled: "I saw — he had on the wall, and oil painting of three angels and I looked over at his desk, where he had the speaker phone and it just came together."

The Charlie's Angels franchise once again became a hit for a new demographic during the early 2000s thanks to actresses Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu and Cameron Diaz.

The duo praised the new generation of Charlie's Angels and they revealed what their conditions are for the continuation of the franchise in the future.

Jaclyn expressed: "I think what Drew did, even though it went beyond what we did - it was more martial arts, jumping off buildings…but it showed continuity, it showed that it had durability. I like it. Maybe it'll be Charlie's Angels on Mars. Just keep going."

She has one condition and that is to keep the trio's strong bond at the forefront. The actress continued: "[Only] If they keep the heartbeat which was the sisterhood and the friendships."

Kate explained: "I'd like to see it from the 2019 version, where Bosley was a rank and not a person. They changed so much. They just broke too many rules so I hope that's not the thing that people remember when they think of that."

Kate concluded with her stamp of approval, stating: "Let Drew and Lucy pick it up again."
