Miley Cyrus gave the little black dress a sultry update as she shared a series of playful photographs from her Chateau party, complete with balloons, statement jewellery and a hint about her next music release.

The singer looked striking in a lingerie-inspired slip dress featuring delicate lace across the neckline and a sheer panel beneath the bust. With her blonde hair falling in tousled waves around her shoulders, Miley embraced a relaxed take on party glamour.

The photographs arrive during a busy period for the star, who is preparing to release Bass Persuades on 18 September while introducing a change to her professional name.

Miley's outfit combined a fitted black silhouette with sheer lace detailing, including a delicate trim around the hem.

She teamed the dress with black tights and pointed heels, adding layered gold necklaces, bracelets and several rings. Dramatic winged eyeliner sharpened the look, while a soft nude lip balanced her statement eye make-up.

In one photograph, Miley stretched out across a textured sofa, resting her head against her hand and bending one leg behind her.

Another captured her beside a piano, with her legs drawn up near the keyboard as she looked directly at the camera. The white-bordered photographs gave the collection the feel of a personal party scrapbook.

The singer also posed beneath a ceiling crowded with balloons, holding a ribbon in one hand and a flute containing an orange-coloured drink in the other. In a separate frame, she held a white flower between her lips and raised an arm above her head.

Her caption suggested that the evening's soundtrack had given her an idea for another release, teasing a "BP remixx" after hearing it at the party.

Why Miley Cyrus is now going by Miley

The party photographs follow Miley's decision to present her latest musical chapter using her first name alone.

She has dropped Cyrus from her social media branding and is using Miley professionally for the new release. The change concerns her public-facing name; it does not establish that she has made another legal name change.

Born Destiny Hope Cyrus, the singer was nicknamed Smiley as a child before the name evolved into Miley. She legally became Miley Ray Cyrus in 2008.

Her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, has publicly supported the latest decision. Writing on Instagram, he compared his daughter's move to performers known by one name, including Cher and Prince, describing it as "a natural progression for an iconic superstar legend".

Alongside her new professional name, Miley has been sharing the meaning behind her forthcoming album.

In her social media announcement, she described music as something that accompanies the full range of human emotions, writing: "Music takes hold of us. We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance to it, let it out and carry on."

The singer also has two Hollywood Bowl performances scheduled for 16 and 18 October, with Model/Actriz joining the bill.
