Alan Ritchson has been in a new chapter of life for quite some time.

Over the weekend, the Reacher actor, 43, confirmed that he and his wife Catherine Ritchson, to whom he was married for 20 years, had decided to end their marriage.

The former couple, who met in a high school ballet class in Florida, are parents to three sons, Calem, 13, Edan, 12, and Amory, 10.

One day after announcing their divorce, court records reported by multiple outlets indicate that Alan in fact filed for divorce nearly one year ago, on December 1, 2025.

The two reportedly briefly reconciled back in March, but have since ultimately moved forward with the dissolution of their marriage.

Alan, who is based in Brentwood, Tennessee near Nashville, and Catherine last made a public appearance together in July 2026, attending the New York City premiere of his film Motor City with their three sons.

In a joint statement shared on Instagram on Saturday, September 12, Catherine and Alan shared: "After 20 years together, Cat and I have decided to end our marriage and continue alongside one another in a different way," adding: "We grew up together, we built a life and a family together."

The statement continued: "We are raising three incredible boys, who will always be the center of our world. Nothing can diminish what these years have meant to us — or the love and respect we will always share. The best gift we can give one another — and our boys — right now is friendship, grace and commitment to becoming the strongest coparents we can be."

They maintained they hoped to "give each other room to grow into the people we are becoming."

"Change is hard enough without the whole world weighing in," they emphasized. "We hope, especially for the sake of our boys, that you will allow our family to move through this chapter with privacy and compassion. Thank you for supporting us as we continue making the health and happiness of our family our priority."

For their 19th wedding anniversary in May 2025, Alan shared a lengthy tribute to Catherine, writing: "I'm the luckiest man alive. To be able to build the treasure that is our marriage and family is and always will be the greatest privilege and success of my life. @catritchson you are wisdom personified. Strength incarnate. A tantalizing percolation of joy, adventure and love. The boys and I are so beyond blessed to be able to journey with and for you."

He did not share a public wedding anniversary post for their milestone 20th anniversary this past May.
