Meet Kevin Costner’s forgotten first wife — the Disneyland worker who supported him for 16 years

Kevin Costner first tied the knot in 1978, marrying Cindy Silva. In 1989, the actor reflected on their first date to People, recalling: "She was beautiful. She was sweet. She was smarter than me … she represented everything about women that I like. I was just really proud that this girl would go out with me. I wanted to show my parents."

They reportedly met at Disneyland while Kevin was working there as a tour guide and Cindy was hired to play Snow White. The pair welcomed three children together but parted ways in 1994, reportedly resulting in an $80 million settlement.

Cindy was allegedly excited about her husband's Hollywood dreams at the start of their marriage. At the time, she worked in marketing for Delta Airlines and Kevin worked as a stage manager.

But when the actor's career took off, his schedule became harder to manage and it seems their relationship struggled as a result. 

At the time of their split, the couple released a statement explaining: "After 16 years together, we are ending our marriage. We have amicably resolved all issues regarding our children and financial affairs and a full marital settlement has been reached."

Decades after they went their separate ways, Kevin told The Hollywood Reporter in 2012: "My faith was shaken. No one wants their marriage to end, and it did. You are going to see the people you love most, your children, only half as much. That's a huge loss."

Kevin and Cindy welcomed three children together during their marriage: Annie, Lily and Joe. Annie has appeared in several of her father's projects, including Dances with Wolves, and runs production company Sound Off Films focussing on documentaries. 

Lily has also appeared on screen and worked as a musician, while Joe has also joined his father for films like The Postman and has since pursued a career as an audio engineer and sound mixer. In total, Kevin is a father to seven children, welcomed with three different partners.

After separating from Cindy, Kevin welcomed son Liam with Bridget Rooney. In 2004, he married for the second time, saying 'I do' to model Christine Baumgartner.

The couple welcomed three children together: Cayden Wyatt, Hayes Logan and Grace Avery Costner before their separation in 2024.
