Matthew McConaughey has some real life and onscreen brothers who he adores.
The Dallas Buyers Club actor is currently promoting Brothers, an Apple TV series with Woody Harrelson, who he has long teased might be his half-brother. His mother Kay "Ma Mac" McConaughey has previously implied that she had relations with Woody's father, Charles Harrelson.
Whether the Cheers alum is in fact his co-star's half-brother remains up for debate, but Matthew does have two brothers in real life, one of which also pursued a career in entertainment, and another who lives a life out of the spotlight.

Matthew, 56, had long been candid about his tumultuous childhood growing up in Texas with his brothers, Michael "Rooster" McConaughey, 72, and Pat, who Matthew's mom adopted with her late husband James Donald McConaughey, who died at 62 in 1992.
His parents were married three times and divorced twice, and he told Willie Geist on TODAY in 2020 of his childhood: "I was scared at the moment, but even then and immediately after that, I didn't ever question the love that Mom and Dad had or the love that they gave us."
"I tell these stories that are bloody and ugly and sometimes violent," he continued. "And I think the reason I tell them is that those were times where the love that we had — that was never in question — was most challenged, but never had a chance of being beat."

Little is known about middle brother Pat, who lives a life completely out of the spotlight. However, Matthew did give a glimpse of what his personality might be like during an appearance on Kate and Oliver Hudson's podcast Sibling Revelry, when he said Pat inspired his first ever role, as Wooderson in 1993's Dazed and Confused.
"Sometimes you study details of a character and other times it's just an impression. That character was based off a specific day when I was about 10 years old," he revealed, recalling a moment he and his mom went to pick him up at school.
"We're slowly driving through campus, I'm in the backseat looking out the back window … I see this image of a guy in shadow, leaning against the wall in the smoking section with one boot heel kicked up on the wall, the light shining through, the bent knee, leaning back, kind of a lazy longhand. I was like 'Whoa.' He was like nine feet tall, the coolest thing in the world and it was my brother Pat."

Rooster is a man of many hats, and even became a millionaire by the time he was 30. He founded his own oil pipe business, DGM Supply, and launched an investment company called West Texas Ltd. with his close friend Wayne "Butch" Gilliam, however he has been candid about losing much of the money he made.
"I was always good at making money — I wasn't too good at holding onto it," he admitted to People in 2018. "It taught me more about, don't forget who you are."
© Getty ImagesHe and Wayne have also hosted two reality shows; they first hosted a Shark Tank-style show called West Texas Investors Club, which ran for two seasons on CNBC, and then Rooster & Butch, which aired on A&E and also saw them investing in local businesses.
Rooster is a dad to three children, and has been married three times. He welcomed son Madison Beaumont with his first wife, and later two other kids, son Miller Lyte and daughter Margarita Olympia, both of whom were named after his favorite beers.
