Matthew McConaughey was a proud dad as he stepped out in Texas for a special screening of his upcoming film, The Rivals of Amziah King, alongside his wife, Camila Alves, and their three kids, Levi, 18, Vida, 16 and Livingston, 13.

The actor looked dapper in a navy suit with a white button-down shirt, while Camila stunned in a gray striped three-piece suit with a large brown hat.

Levi was his dad's double in a beige linen shirt and blue jeans, while Vida rocked a black dress with spaghetti straps and Livingston looked stylish in a light blue linen suit and white tee.

The film screening doubled as a night to honor Matthew, a Texas native who moved back to his home state permanently in 2014.

The Alamo Drafthouse Mueller, where the screening took place, has now been renamed the Matthew McConaughey Cinema, in recognition of his incredible career achievements and dedication to his home state. The Oscar winner also performed on the special night alongside members of the band The Last Bison.

The star moved his family to Texas in 2014

He has been living in Texas since 2014, when he and Camila decided to escape the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles and raise their kids away from the spotlight.

"This has always been home; I mean, there's multiple reasons for [the move]. I mean, this is where I have a great relationship with time – meaning 60 seconds feels like a minute, a mile feels like a mile," he explained on the Today show.

"I like to live in a place and for a home to be a place where I have a good relationship with time."

"Our family unit is here – we have resources and a backbone of security here," he continued. "I wanted them to have what I grew up around. There's a solid…amount of common sense that runs through it; it's untalked about, but we understand it here."

Matthew's parenting philosophy

The 56-year-old is as dedicated a dad as ever, and shared on Bear Grylls Is Running Wild that being a good father was the "greatest art" a man could create. "I think a man's a prince until he has children, then he becomes a king. I don't think there's anything more important that a man can do," he declared.

"In fact, man, we're mortal. That's the beginning of our immortality, and hopefully, we're lucky enough for them to have offspring, and it continues to pass that down. I think that's the greatest art that a man can make is being a good father to a son or a daughter."

Matthew is passionate about fatherhood

Matthew added that parenting sometimes caused his marriage to fall by the wayside, so he and Camila made a dedicated effort to spend time together.

"Sometimes we get down to track where it's so much about the kids, and we look up and go, 'Oh, hey. Yeah. How are you doing?'" he said. "And I got to remind myself, I forgot who told me this long time ago, [but] the best example you can give your kids is how you treat the mother."
