Melania Trump shared rare insight into her bond with her son, Barron Trump, hinting that the pair are spending less and less time together amid his studies at NYU's Stern School of Business.
The 20-year-old is currently living in Washington, D.C., after transferring to NYU's campus in the city, and has been working on building his drinks brand, SOLLOS, with his friends.
Family time
© Getty ImagesMelania shared on Fox News' The Big Money Show that it was difficult to carve out family time with Barron and her husband, Donald Trump, as they were all incredibly busy with their work.
"It's good to schedule [family time], right?" she said on the show. "It's always good because everybody's so busy."
© AFP via Getty Images"My husband is working – sometimes he's in the Oval Office till 9:30 at night, right? So do you wait that you will have dinner? You don't, because he's busy. I'm busy too."
"It's less and less family time. It's suffering because of it," she added. "But that's okay. We are here to work, to do a good job, and that's what matters. And Barron is already a young man, so sometimes he's maybe even happy that, you know, I just want to do my stuff. And that's okay."
Stepping back from the spotlight
By all accounts, Barron is incredibly shy and prefers to stay out of the spotlight. His last public appearance was at the FIFA World Cup Final in New Jersey in July, which he attended with his parents.
Barron's sister-in-law, Lara Trump, previously shared on her podcast, The Right View with Lara Trump, that he liked to "lay low" and stay out of the public eye, but was well-versed in issues like AI.
© Getty Images"I feel like he's the sleeper," she said on the show. "You want to hear more about Barron 'cause you see less of him. And I think that's kind of cool." She added that the college student "knows that there's a lot of interest" in him online, which is "why he likes to lay low".
"That's why he likes to play it cool. That's why you don't see him all the time," she explained. "It's crazy because I've seen Barron grow up, which means I'm 160 years old... But he's turned out to be a really great kid."
Barron means business
© Getty Images"I think he's got two years left of college, but he's excited to finish college and get out and work, which I love," Lara said before sharing an anecdote about his intelligence.
"We had a huge discussion at dinner on Sunday night at the White House about whether a certain image, I won't tell you what it is, was AI or real. And Barron and I were the only two that said, 'That's AI. You guys are all wrong. It's AI.' We were right. Proved it that night."
Barron launched his drinks brand, SOLLOS, in June 2026, with friends from Florida, inspired by the Sunshine State, although he has remained behind the scenes rather than serving as the face of the company.
