As the search for Savannah Guthrie's 84-year-old mother enters its ninth month, the TV star's former Today show colleague, Hoda Kotb, shared insight into how her friend is coping with the ongoing investigation.
Nancy Guthrie went missing in the early hours of February 1 from her home in Tucson, Arizona, and both the local authorities and the FBI have struggled to discover any leads as to her whereabouts.
Hoda's concern for Savannah
Hoda, who left Today in early 2025 after 16 years, shared with USA Today that Savannah is so focused on her kids, her work and the investigation that she is "not resting".
"When I think about Savannah, I think about her words, which are, 'We won't rest until we have answers,'" the 62-year-old told the outlet.
"She's not resting. She is incredible. She is spiritual. She is an awesome mom, an awesome wife, an incredible sister, and an awesome daughter. So I think for her to be in this loop has to be grueling."
Hoda added that at her Joy 101 retreat, several women came to her to share messages of support for Savannah. "They were just like, 'Listen to me. You tell Savannah that we're praying for her. You tell her.'"

A resilient woman
The mother of two returned to work just two months after Nancy went missing, putting on a brave face for the audience.
"The inspiration that she's giving, through all of it, to me, is immeasurable, and it seems so unusual to say that in the midst of this horrible thing," she continued.
"I love her dearly. I want to soothe her and help her, like her other friends do. And we can't. But the only thing, I think, as friends and anyone who's going through anything is just to be present and be around when they need you."
Hoda praised Savannah's resilience in the face of the ongoing investigation. "She's not allowing them to take what she has in her. She's raising her kids. She's doing all of the things that she does, and she's not allowing it. And she's not resting. Both things are actually true."
Inside the investigation
Nancy's disappearance continues to baffle authorities, who discovered her hearing aids, phone, daily medication and wallet inside her home on February 1, as well as blood droplets on the front doorstep.
She was last seen on the night of January 31, after her son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, dropped her home following a family dinner. Savannah has made several public pleas asking for information about her mom's disappearance, and shared on social media that she was trying to hold it together for Nancy.
"Every day, we wake up and try to be strong and go on – because that's what our joyful and resilient Mom taught us to do. But make no mistake – our hearts are in ruins," she wrote.
"We are begging for help. We are desperate. We need someone to come forward. Someone knows something. Someone suspects something. There is a way out – to tell what you know. You can do so anonymously. The reward is available. There is a way to end this situation and do the right thing."
