Gwen Stefani's son, Kingston Rossdale, is following in his mom and father's star-studded footsteps as he officially launched his music career. The 20-year-old released his new single "Right Side of the Moon", a guitar-led debut about young love.
Produced by Mike Kamerman and co-written with Zoe Hirsch, the track evolved from a simple demo into a warm, guitar-driven song rich in melody. In the official video, Kingston is the spitting image of his dad, Gavin Rossdale. Clad in chainmail armor, he plays his guitar outdoors, his dark curtained hair framing his face. The music video was shot by Kingston and co-directed with Roger Artola.
The budding musician opened up in a press release about the new single. "‘Right Side of the Moon is about finding your person," he shared. "I wrote it about my girlfriend and that feeling of instantly recognizing something in someone when you meet them, that sense that you just fit."
He continued: "Musically, I wanted to encapsulate the nostalgia of the '80s and '90s, while still feeling modern, but it’s basically the idea of two halves making a whole."
The single teases what fans can expect from Kingston's debut EP, Louise Street, which will drop on November 6. The work is inspired by the music Kingston grew up listening to and infused with his own distinct tastes.
Kingston is set to make his live performance debut with a show at the Voodoo Room at House of Blues in San Diego on November 8, followed by his Los Angeles debut at the Troubadour on November 10.
Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale's parenting
Gwen shares three sons, Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo with her ex-husband, Bush singer Gavin. The "No Doubt" hitmaker has previously discussed her son's songwriting skills. "When it’s your kid, it’s like, you love everything, but this is next level to me. These are really good songs," she told People.
Meanwhile, Gavin has previously shared that he’s always been mindful not to 'push' his own musical passions onto his children. "I'm really careful to not push," he admitted to Us Weekly.
"I take pride in listening to what they're doing and not sharing anything I'm doing."
He continued: "Yeah, 'cause it's much more healthy. I'm their father, not their friend," he points out. "What happens with me, though, in my house, they'll play their songs, what they're doing."
Gwen met Blake Shelton back in 2014 on The Voice, and the pair started dating in 2015 after their respective divorces. The musical couple tied the knot back in 2021 with a romantic ceremony. Blake is actively involved in raising his wife's three boys.
