Kim Kardashian has opened up about raising her four children, North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm, as a single mother. During a new interview with The Sunday Times Style, the reality star admitted that she has five nannies, with one on duty and four on rotation, to help look after her kids due to her busy work schedule.
The SKIMS founder explained that she is always available to drop her children to school every day, pick them up, and eat dinner with them. "I think I am an intermediate-strict parent," she shared. "I’m extremely patient and loving. I still have a kid sleep in my bed when they want. I read books with the kids every night."
Kim also shared that she believes it's important to discuss privilege with her children. "It’s something I talk to my kids about constantly, about hard work, never taking things for granted, always having gratitude," she said. "I lead by example. I’m really open with them about my work, all of the hard work that I put into my law studies, and they’re proud. I think that you can have a big life and still have that spirit in you. But it is more challenging."
The beauty mogul also discussed how she co-parents with her ex-husband, Kanye West, when it comes to her daughter North's budding music career. The former couple were married from 2014 to 2022 and share four kids.
"That is something that her dad and I have better communication about," she shared. "We make sure we’re aligned and that she’s in projects that we both approve."
Kim also revealed that she stayed single for five years to "heal" from the breakdown of her marriage. "I was really single for five years. And that felt great," the 45-year-old said. "I could focus on my kids and projects that I really wanted to be involved with. I really felt no rush. Like, I really didn't feel empty.
Kim previously admitted that sharing custody with the rapper is "a lot of work". "It’s not easy, but I raise the kids full time," she said on Call Her Daddy in 2025. "They live with me. I welcome a great, healthy relationship with my kids and their dad. He knows that. I push for it all the time. But I also protect them when it's time for that... it’s a lot of work."
She continued: "The one thing that gets me is that there’s this narrative that I keep the kids...away from him. I never once [have] done that."
